By Quilter by Night Designs. Original PATTERN is perfect for highlighting a large or special theme print. Or use the fish SUPPLEMENT and replace the center with a foundation pieced fish! Add the hat and flag for a cute patriotic version or make a stripped bass version in greens and browns. Makes a perfect house warming or hostess gift. Original placemats can be made with pre-cut 2-1/2" strips or yardage. Foundation pieced fish require additional yardage. Cut out centers and start adding stirps, flipping, pressing, and trimming as you go. The order you add the strips and precision trimming using your ruler, mat, and rotary cutter is what gives these placemats their unique look. No binding! Instructions show you how-to perfectly adjust batting, sew front and back together, turn right-side out, and seal each placemat (like a pillow cover). Quilt last Two easy quilting patterns are provided. It's a snap! The original placemats are easy enough for a beginner. The supplement for the foundation pieced fish includes the pattern, additional materials list, and instructions. Familiarity with basic foundation pieceing techniques is assumed, however, due to the larger size of the pieces, this is an easy foundation piecing pattern. An additional quilting pattern for the fish centers is included.
